Nickname: Tony
Born and raised at the banks of the rivers Mondego and Alva in the centre of Portugal, Tony has spent over a decade
exploring, fly fishing and guiding in these waters.
In October and November of 2006 he start guiding in the world renown waters of the White and the North Fork Rivers in Norfork, Arkansas.
Tony's clients have asked him to return to these waters and continue guiding in the Fall of 2007. He is now committed to returning
to the North Fork and the White on an annual basis.
Not only is Tony an outstanding guide, but he is also a fearless competitor. He started professional fly fishing
competition in the year 2000.
Since, he has competed in the Fly Fishing Championships in Spain (2003, Slovakia (2004), Sweden (2005),
Portugal (2006) and will this year be a member of Team Portugal when they travel to Finland for the World Championships.
Tony has been in the top 5 of the National Championship since 2002. He was the champion of the Valencia Masters in 2002.
He is the reigning National Champion for the 2006/2007.
Most recently, his instructional skills has lead to him being the Portugal National Coach for the youth team that will
participate in the 6th Youth World Fly Fishing Championship, to be held in State College, PA during the month of August 2007.
If that were not enough, Tony is now the Director of the Portuguese Fly Fishing Association "Associação Portuguesa de Pesca à Pluma"
(APPP) www.appp.pt, whose main goal is to develop interest in fly fishing and the preservation of the natural environment.
His greatest ambition is to fly fish for every species of fish possible, but his greatest love is site fishing for the monster wild Brown Trout with dry flies
and small nymphs.
